Are you tired of spending all afternoon in the kitchen slaving over one meal?
Fed up with choking down bland and boring foods that are supposed to help you lose fat… but you're still stuck in the same dress size?
Ready to throw in the towel and give up on your fat loss goal?
I hear you. I've been there myself. I've watched as everyone around me seemed to lose weight without much effort… meanwhile I'm stuck gaining weight if I so much as smell a donut.
And I don't even want to talk about the pictures in my Facebook and Instagram feeds about people losing 20 pounds in two weeks by drinking nothing but lemonade and eating air (or whatever other weird diet is en vogue).
It's depressing, isn't it? I mean, what makes their way so special?
Here's the bad news (for them), and the good news (for you and I):
First, it is not exactly healthy to lose weight that fast. Sure, dropping water weight in the beginning is ok, but continuing to lose over 2 pounds a weeks is ultimately not healthy or maintainable over the long haul.
So, you might be tired of trying to find something that works and something you can stick to but don’t fall for fast weight loss gimmicks that can potentially put your life at risk!
You can lose weight safely, easily, and without needing to starve yourself or eat bland foods.
Not to mention the fact that your significant other doesn’t need to shudder at the idea of you starting a new diet thinking it means he’ll have to endure whatever crazy foods you’re going to fix this time.
You can eat foods that are whole, natural and easily found in the grocery store.
There are so many women out there who are struggling to lose weight, who want to finally feel happy with their body and to not crumble into a pile of sobs on the floor when they look in the mirror
We’ve all been there, sadly, but you don’t have to stay there.
Whether you stay where you are or make a change is a choice you get to make each and every day your eyelids pop open and your feet touch the floor. You get to decide whether to move forward or keep your feet planted in the same miserable place over and over.
Or… you can choose to make a change. You can step up to the plate (pun intended) with a different perspective and a big side of discipline and make that change.
You don’t want to be stuck at the same weight, eating the same foods (that aren’t helping you get to your goal), doing the same meaningless things you tell yourself will help you lose that weight finally?
When we started Balance + Lift we weren’t aware of how many women out there were struggling with their diet and weight loss journey.
Sure, we knew some folks struggled… heck we struggled!
But after getting soooo many emails we finally started to comprehend just how many women wanted help with their weight loss journey.
Here's just a small snippet of what comes through our inbox…
They wanted to lose weight without sacrificing the delicious, mouthwatering taste of real food – and they shouldn’t have to sacrifice that!
They wanted to lose weight without droning out 2 hours in a gym mindlessly – great thing is… you don’t have to!
They wanted to lose weight without their significant other fearing the next wave of, “hey honey’s” that come out of their mouths – good news… this food tastes great and doesn’t feel like “diet food”!
Our community is full of women exactly like Brianna, who are desperate to become their “old self” again.
After giving birth to two kids and gaining many unwanted pounds, Brianna was desperate to get back into her pre-pregnancy shape, regain her once-endless energy levels, and feel the same excitement and vitality she felt just a few years ago.
Tired of looking in the mirror and hating what she saw, frumpy, lumpy, roll-ridden Brianna was ready to be lean and full of spunk once again.
But, despite her goal, it took her ages to find something that worked…
She blamed everything she could before trying to find a diet that worked for her.
Oh, sure, she’d dieted on and off over the years… trying the newest, latest and greatest things that came on the market.
When she’d go back to “normal” eating she’d “blow up” (as she says) and weigh more than the time before.
She’d sink down into this depressed funk where she questioned whether she lacked discipline.
Was it her body?
Was it what she was eating?
Was it what she wasn’t eating?
There was so much confusion out there about what to eat, what not to eat, what’s the best way of eating and so many other things.
Brianna isn’t alone though. There are tons of searches on google each day about what diet is the best or top diet for weight loss.
Figuring out which diet diet is best for you is not easy.
After consecutively yo-yo dieting over two years, Brianna came to the conclusion that something just had to be wrong with her rather than the diet being wrong.
She didn’t give up. She kept digging and reading, and testing…
And, it clicked one day while reading through tons of articles on diet and lifestyle changes and what others were doing to keep the weight off.
You can’t “diet” to lose weight (in the sense of yo-yo dieting)… you have to change your diet/nutrition lifestyle.
Now, that’s about as intimidating as diving with some Great White Sharks. Thinking she’d have to actively change her way of eating – forever!
Brianna’s mind fought against this way of thinking because it wasn’t the “common” way of thinking…
“But, but, but… holidays, parties and candy.. Oh, there must be another way… carbs, and sugar and treats! This can’t be the only answer.”
Brianna was fat because she was stuck with a “fat mindset.” In order to lose the weight she wanted – and keep it off – she needed to develop a “fat loss mindset.”
Eventually Brianna stumbled on a few articles about something called “Ketogenic Dieting,” and she started to feel excited… “this could work” she kept thinking.
At first the whole “super low carb” part freaked her out a little bit… I mean, who wants to give up potatoes forever (hint: you don’t HAVE to give them up forever)?
After tallying some nutritional information for what a day could look like she began to feel hopeful.
Brianna began to believe it would be possible to keep the carb levels low AND achieve her goals. Not to mention it was a huge relief to look at her numbers and see they weren't below 1000 measly calories. Starving is not something Brianna ever wanted to do again after all.
Besides, Brianna figured if others can do follow Keto (or even more strict diets), she knew she could too.
It amazed her that people were actively losing weight eating real food AND looking at recipes made her hopeful that even her family would be able to eat them without fussing – too much at least.
She felt excited to get in the kitchen and start experimenting with food again!
Brianna was determined to give this a shot and see just how much her life could change.
Talk about knocking her socks off 😉
She blew past the dreaded “keto flu” and started feeling more energized than ever. She was so excited. She could actually get through an entire work day and not feel like crashing at 8pm.
While her fat was melting off, energy levels rising, and spunk returning, Brianna ran into ONE problem that was causing her a fair amount of headache…
She couldn't find simple, quick meals to prepare, and many of the suggested foods weren't readily available.
The more she thought about about, she began to realize….
In fact, it's actually EASIER to lose weight if you eat quick and simple meals because it becomes so much easier to stick to your plan.
Sure, exotic ingredients and five-star meals make for a nice treat, but they actually make fat loss harder than it needs to be (plus, they're guaranteed to chew through your budget).
Here's the quick & easy fat loss meal equation Brianna came up with:
Or in the case of Ketogenic Dieting:
Meat + Low Carb Veggie + Fat = Healthy Keto Meal
If you follow these basics (meat+low carb veggie+fat) in the beginning it will help you to better manage the flu-like symptoms you might experience and give you an overall better journey getting started.
The keto flu does NOT last forever. It’s a byproduct of your body going through carb withdrawals, but it’s manageable and even something you can lessen.
After the research Brianna did, she had minimal keto flu symptoms. Headache, a little grogginess, but other than that she went about her day without much notice.
She prepared and came out on the other side a winner.
You too can prepare for the flu by drinking plenty of water, making sure you’re getting enough vitamins (magnesium, potassium and sodium are the most important here), eating enough food and adding exercise into your daily routine.
The symptoms typically last 3-7 days and it varies from person to person.
The overwhelm of starting anything new is… well, overwhelming, but we want to help you avoid that.
We want you to succeed.
At the same time, we understand what you want, what we ALL want in an effective fat loss diet…
You want food that tastes amazing… Hay isn’t on the menu and neither are wheatgrass shots or food that winds up tasting like a wet dog smells.
You want to eat and not starve, because let’s be honest no one wants to starve themselves to look good (at least not normally).
You want meals that are easy to make and meals that don’t take 10,000 ingredients either.
Brianna used to stress out over what to make, what to eat, and how long it would take her to actually cook the food she wanted to eat – she has a family of 4 with a husband who eats enough for 3!
Once she found a few select meals that they really enjoyed it helped make meal planning so much easier.
If she couldn’t find meals she used the keto equation was mentioned earlier (meat + veggie + fat) to create meals.
Brianna would also keep her eye out for meals that weren't typical “keto meals,” but she could turn into keto-approved dishes with a simple tweak or two.
For instance, say you find a delicious looking mexican recipe and the recipe called for beans and rice (not keto-friendly). All you need to do is drop the beans or swap them for something else like bell peppers, and use cauliflower instead of rice!
What makes eating keto so great is that there are many ways to morph your favorite foods into being keto friendly. And, since keto is so popular now you can probably find a recipe for every family favorite non-keto meal and see how people made it keto.
If you keep keto simple then you be able to better manage your weight loss, it will keep you sane and OUT of the kitchen, rather than being IN the kitchen all afternoon.
And, weight loss plus easy meals are what you’re after right?
Oh, and simple meals keep your shopping trips simple too!
Meat, veggies, fat… bout as simple as you can get! That means rather than spending an hour in the grocery store trying to plan your meals as you go, you’ll be in and out in 30 mins max (give or take a lollygag or two if you’re a lolly-gagger).
You’ll be in and out in no time at all. Leaving you more time to do things you love doing – whatever that may be!
Wondering if this is actually possible?
Let me show you how even you can go from lumpy frumpy and grumpy to free from food, from countless hours in the kitchen to way less, and from energy-less to max energy levels daily.

See you on the inside!
You bet your bottom you can! It comes down to discipline and knowledge. Once you know how to eat keto you can definitely lose weight and feel great 🙂
This can happen for a number of reasons…
The keto flu is where you’ll start noticing flu like symptoms due to carb withdrawal. When you decrease the amount of carbs you’re eating your body will start shedding water weight from your fat cells and muscles. This water can contain toxins and when they leave your body it can cause flu like symptoms. It can also be caused by your body flushing out vitamins and minerals too. But, it’s not long lasting and you can slow the process by not cutting your carb intake drastically (think decreasing your normal intake by 10g each day rather than cutting back to 20g net carbs tomorrow).
It really and truly depends on your lifestyle before you adopt a keto diet. If you were low carb then you’ll likely not see many of these side effects, but if you were a high carb eater then you could see all of these.
Typically speaking, the keto flu can last anywhere from 3-7 days. If you start cutting down your carb level before starting the detox you can eliminate getting the flu all together.
A safe bet is 20-50 grams of carbs and will really depend on your lifestyle, exercise per week, hormonal issues and general desire for weight loss.
Most people stick with 20 grams as a goal because it allows the body to get into ketosis faster.
Depending on how far over the 20 gram mark you go a few things could happen:
But, really, the only way to know is if you're using something like a Blood Ketone Monitor to help track.
There’s a big misconception out there that you can’t eat any carbs. This is a low carb diet NOT a no carb diet. There’s a difference.
Yes, you can still eat carbs, but you’ll be eating things like: lettuce, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, broccoli rabe, cabbage, greens, kale, spinach, etc.
But, in some instances, you can even have things like: sweet potato, butternut squash, spaghetti squash (this is a bit of my twist and a lot of folks will tell you NEVER to eat these things). I suggest adding these ONLY when necessary (like for carb-ups – which you can read about here).
I can't guarantee it will help you, because it really depends on if you ACTUALLY use the program.
If you use it, then yes, it will help you.
If you don't and try to figure things out on your own, then no, it won't.
