Ever since we brought goats to the farm I’ve been trying to find ways to entertain them and give them a place to have fun. I’ve seen all sorts of nifty goat playground ideas floating around the web, so I thought I’d compile some ideas here!

Now, you might (or might not) be wondering if goats actually need any sort of playground to be happy. Some would argue they do, and some would argue that it’s not necessary.

I think it really boils down to what you’re comfortable doing for your animals.

Personally, I love seeing goats rip and roar through the pen having fun chasing each other and playing. And, if I can facilitate more fun by adding an obstacle for them to play on then that’s cool too.

DIY Goat Playground Ideas

You don’t need to go out and buy all sorts of wood to make a playground. The fun thing is just about anything you have can work as long as it provides them a way to jump up or even over something.

You can use scraps of wood, pallets, tree stumps, old barrels, and so much more. Let your creativity run wild!

It would just be wise to make sure whatever you are building is stable enough that they won’t get hurt by jumping up on it.

For instance, if you use a barrel as something they can jump on, maybe fill it full of sand or rocks so when they jump on it the barrel won’t fall or roll while they’re on it.
