What is the Carnivore Diet?
The carnivore diet is essentially what it sounds like – anything that comes from an animal.
If it’s considered meat and flesh or from something that’s considered meat and flesh, then it’s in the clear.
Things get a little hairy when you start including things like coffee, spices, herbs, and such, but as a general rule, a good portion of folks that eat carnivore use some sort of seasonings and spices and definitely drink coffee.
Note: that’s a generalization regarding the above, and I do know that there are quite a few people that are carnivores that do not partake in those things also.
So, What Can You Eat on the Carnivore Diet?
As stated above, it’s really dependent on what level of the carnivore diet you’re wanting to aim for when starting.
As a general rule, you can eat the following:
- Beef
- Chicken
- Turkey
- Quail
- Pheasant
- Pork
- Seafood
- Freshwater fish or animals
- Bison
- Any wild game
- Milk
- Heavy cream
- Sour Cream
- Cheese
- Cottage cheese
- Yogurt (no sugar)
- Ricotta cheese
- Chicken eggs
- Duck eggs
- Quail eggs
- Turkey eggs
- Ostrich eggs
- Emu eggs
- Fish eggs
Obviously, there are a lot of different cuts of each type of meat listed above. Choosing different cuts will help to alleviate any “boredom” that you might feel during the beginning of your carnivore journey.

Do I Have to Eat at Every Meal?
If you want to skip breakfast, that is totally ok. There are quite a few folks that will intermittent fast because they’re just not hungry first thing in the morning.
The key is to make sure you eat enough food throughout the day and that you’re not undereating as a result of skipping breakfast.
