Being on a budget can kinda suck (ok, can really suck), but that doesn’t mean you have to live on rice and beans. You can create simple foods that are budget-friendly, quick, and yummy like this basic keto tuna salad.
Canned tuna is really one option that I always seem to overlook when I know we’re on a budget. Yet, it’s really a versatile ingredient that you can do a good bit with.
I’m pretty basic with my tuna though and like to keep it simple.
However, just like chicken salad, there are so many different ways you can dress up tuna salad and make it snazzy.
Canned tuna is great if you’re needing a bump in protein without a bump in carbs or fat… that is if you can eat it straight.
In one can of tuna, there are 20 grams of protein!

At my Walmart down here in Mississippi you can buy 8 cans of tuna for approximately $7+tax. Meaning, you can wind up with 8 meals for $1 (give or take some condiments and sides).
That’s not too shabby!
Even adding mustard, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper won’t tack on too many extra cents.
Some folks will add celery. Some will add red onion.
It’s really just personal preference honestly
Feel free to add seasonings to the tuna to give it a kick of flavor!
Meal Prep This Keto Tuna Salad
Want to make enough for a few days?
Just double, triple, or even quadruple the recipe and store it in the fridge to use throughout the week.
You can either separate it out into individual containers or leave it all in one container (making cleanup easier).
Meal prepping saves time and saves you heartache when you forget to use that last veggie in your draw that’s started to mold (we all know it’s happened)!
